The Simulation of the Coded Neutron Source Phase Contrast Imaging

Neutron phase contrast imaging is a recently developmental technique which is based not only on the amplitude like in the projection imaging but also on the contribution of phase alteration of the neutron beam. With the additional contrast from the difference of neutron refraction index in the sample which mainly leads to edge enhancement, phase contrast imaging can show more details about the neutron phase materials, especially some low attenuation contrast materials. But this technique required high L/D which made the neutron flux low at the imaging area and leaded to the long exposure time. Coded neutron source is a novel method which can get both high L/D and neutron flux at the imaging area. Some numerical simulations are done to confirm the flexibility of coded source in neutron phase contrast imaging and some reconstruction algorithms are also be studied. The results shows that the coded source technique can be used in neutron phase contrast imaging and shorten the exposure time.
